"Ladies DC Happy Hour Celebrates International Women’s Day”Feature by Jackie McKinney
Ladies DC, of Ladies America, hosted a happy hour in partnership with Ozio Restaurant and Lounge. Ozio provided the perfect laid-back atmosphere to host an after-work event on a surprisingly warm-winter evening on their rooftop level. A complimentary martini was given to those who arrived before 6pm to kick off the evening! Both men and women came out to mix, mingle and network to celebrate the day and recognize professional women around the world. Lindsey Mask(Founder of and Ladies DC & Ladies America), Navroop Mitter (Ladies America Board of Advisors, CEO of Gryphn Corporation), and Board Members were in attendance to meet and greet Ladies DC Members and friends. International Women’s Day is a holiday celebrated on March 8th to advocate for gender equality and mark the achievements of women all of over the world. Google even honored the day by creating a special Google Doodle. In some countries, International Women‘s Day is an Official holiday where women have the day off! Luke's Wings 2nd Annual Homecoming Gala Sponsored by Ladies DCLuke’s Wings, in partnership with Ladies DC, American Airlines, MacNair Travel Management and Washington Life Magazine, held a private cocktail reception and large gala fundraiser in honor of our military heroes, veterans and families at the Historic Terminal A of Reagan National Airport. The event was held against the backdrop of floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the runway and consisting of a live band, delicious fare, premium open bar and an honorable salute to our troops in our own private airport terminal. This intimate evening with our country’s greatest heroes was the least we could do in return for what they have given to us. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but in the heart of the action, you will find Luke’s Wings saluting our troops, and raising funds for future flights for our wounded warrior families, in the most appreciative way possible.
All proceeds helped Luke’s Wings purchase airplane tickets for hospitalized wounded warriors and their families. The Honorary Host Committee currently includes: U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, Mayor Vincent Gray, Congressman Frank Wolf, Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, former Virginia Attorney General Jerry Kilgore and Ambassador L. Paul Bremer. |

Career Connect kicked off with their first career clinic with a powerful panel on “Gaining the Competitive Edge in Today’s Job Market”. The panel included:
The clinic began with the panel discussion where several important topics were touched upon including networking, online job applications, and much more. Many essential job-hunting tips were emphasized in standing out in a sea of resumes and cover letters. Where it is especially important to always be sharpening your skills, whether it is through certificates or volunteering. It is extremely important to constantly strengthen your skills. Networking was another important topic where being well prepared with a positive demeanor and dressed properly for interviews and job fairs are helpful in being memorable without being inappropriate. Spa Happy Hour, July 18, 2011Ladies DC hosted an evening “Spa Happy Hour” consisting of discounted spa services and bottomless wine/champagne at Serenity Day Spa near Tenleytown. This ultimate pampering happy hour experience started from the moment LDC members walked through the glass doors and were guided down to the dimly lit and lavender scented "Serenity Room." Here members enjoyed wine and champagne, mingled and relaxed in Serenity’s lovely white spa robes, and received complimentary hand massages while waiting for their space services by the lovely doTERRA representative, Anna Offman. After gushing over how wonderful each treatment was, the event ended with each lady taking home a Swag bag full of coupons and samples provided by Serenity. It was a lovely way for professional women to set a tranquil tone for the work week.
