Volunteers Needed for Vagina Monologues
It is my hope that you can join The Fashion Empowering Women Foundation as a volunteer at The Vagina Monologues on April 29th and 30th. Featuring our very own Lindsey Mask reading a NEW monologue entitled Baghdad at the April 29th performance.
Each year, around the world, "The Vagina Monologues" help raise consciousness about atrocities committed against women and girls. For 2011, the spotlight will be on the Women and Girls of Haiti, where high levels of violence including sexual violence, are committed against women and girls since the devastating earthquake that took place in January 2010. Ten percent of funds raised from the production will help Haiti women and girls rebuild their lives. FEW will allocate another ten percent to benefit DC Fashion Foundation, a non-profit organization created by GWFCC to support the Washington, DC fashion community through educational programs, workforce training initiatives, and networking and mentoring opportunities for aspiring fashion professionals and entrepreneurs. The remaining will support Our Place, DC.
We need 40 volunteers. If you are interested in supporting this movement to end violence against girls and women, please contact me at dvfrederic@fewonline.org. We will host a volunteer training to prepare all volunteers for Vday!
WHEN: April 9, 2011
TIME: 12:00pm-3:00pm
WHERE: 1518 K Street NW Mezzanine Level Washington, DC 20005
We welcome all who are interested in contributing to our community so please feel free to invite a friend (or two).
