A little under a month ago, Ladies DC Founder Lindsey Mask announced that the organization had reached 1,500 members (today 1,600!). While this is a great accomplishment, the Ladies DC board has not stopped there. They have also been working diligently to advance the Ladies DC mission and brand beyond the DC area. 

At the end of September, Lindsey Mask and Membership Director Jean Schindler attended a meeting at American Express headquarters in Manhattan. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the expansion of Ladies America, the organization that will serve as an umbrella to both Ladies DC and individual chapters in cities throughout the country. Also in attendance were members of the Ladies America Advisory Board including Executive Vice President of American Express Joan Amble, life coach and author Margie Warrell, Founder/CEO of Gryphn Navroop Mitter, entrepreneur Aron Shoenfeld, and CPA Isaac Sessoms. 

The group discussed the Ladies DC model and ways to translate that model effectively to other cities. Each city has its own particular landscape and many already have women’s organizations similar to Ladies DC. What makes Ladies DC and Ladies America different and how will that be communicated to build membership? The group also debated the advantages and disadvantages of adding a non-profit arm to Ladies America. This meeting was an important step in creating the vision of Ladies America and both the Ladies DC Board and the Ladies America Advisory Board are excited about the road ahead.
